The partnership combines Linde’s experience in the design and construction of cryogenic natural gas processing and LNG plants with the offshore experience from SBM Offshore; SBM Offshore owning and operating the largest fleet of Oil & LPG FPSO’s in the world.
The generic LNG FPSO is designed for a liquefaction capacity of 2.5 mtpa by utilizing Linde’s proven LIMUM® (Linde Multi Stage Mixed Refrigerant) process. It offers a robust, safe, and economically feasible solution for development of gas reserves that were previously perceived as being either stranded or uneconomic by means of traditional schemes.
The LNG FPSO is designed as a fully stand-alone system for field development and, as such, has extensive pre-treatment facilities that can handle untreated well fluids. This makes the Linde/SBM FPSO independent of any infrastructure and eliminating the need for new pipelines, platforms, separate by-product storage, etc. If desired the unit also allows for sequestration of CO2.
Linde and SBM have expended considerable effort to develop and engineer a generic LNG FPSO so that the design can be quickly tailored for a specific project. This provides clients with a substantial number of benefits such as a fast implementation schedule, a competitive price as well as a safe & reliable concept which mitigates project risks.
