Small to mid-scale LNG plants typically have a production capacity on the order of 50,000 – 3,000,000 tonnes per year.
LIMUM (Linde Multi Stage Mixed Refrigerant) is a single mixed refrigerant process. The LIMUM process, with Linde's own plate-fin heat exchangers is recommended for LNG plants with a capacity of less than 200,000 tpa, where simplicity and reduced capital expenditure are paramount.
For LNG plant capacities in excess of approximately 200,000 tpa, the LIMUM process is paired with Linde's own coil-wound heat exchangers. In either variation, the LIMUM process is an energy efficient alternative to expander processes for peak shaving and small LNG plants.
Linde's LIPROM (Linde Propane Mixed Refrigerant) process uses a propane pre-cooling cycle and a mixed refrigerant for liquefaction and sub-cooling. The LIPROM process is designed to combine high efficiency and low equipment count for liquefaction capacities of up to 3 mtpa.
Linde Engineering has multiple references for the application of its own processes for small and mid-scale LNG plants.
