Direct reduction of iron (DRI) processes use reducing gas to convert iron ore (pellet/lump) into metallic iron. The reducing gas is generated directly (shaft furnace), in a natural external gas/steam reformer, from gasification of fossils such as coal or from coke oven gas (COG).
Our tailor-made DRI heaters can be used to heat reducing gas (mainly carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas with high carbon activity) in all kinds of DRI technology.
The above image shows on the left side a typical “box-type DRI heater with a vertical tube arrangement” that meets all process and mechanical requirements.
Special high nickel materials are used in the tube systems and H2S is fed into the reducing gas to prevent corrosion such as metal dusting. We use the latest technologies to keep energy loss and emissions to a minimum.
Our portfolio of special crackers includes EDC cracking furnaces for vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) production processes, acetic acid cracking furnaces for ketene processes, and TiCl-cracking and oxygen heaters for modern chloride and titanium dioxide processes.
