Dresden, July 8, 2020 - As announced by Braskem, Linde Engineering has completed the construction of their polypropylene production facility in La Porte, Texas. With an annual capacity of 450 kilotons (kta) and the ability to produce a broad range of products including homopolymer, impact copolymer, and random copolymers, the new facility represents world-class production capabilities.
Linde Engineering is proud to have achieved this success together with Braskem, against the headwinds of various challenges and obstacles while keeping with the tightly planned schedule, such as:
- COVID-19 | Global pandemic: During the outbreak, Linde Engineering managed to ensure exemplary execution of health and safety regulations while increasing flexibility through alternative time and working models.
The whole organization had to focus on supporting the progress, in part from home-offices, while ensuring high quality standards and uninterrupted cooperation with Braskem’s staff to stay within time and budget estimations. - Intercontinental Terminals Company fire | Order: Shelter in place: All construction activities were stopped for an extended period of time due to the Intercontinental Terminals Company fire and related shelter-in-place order in March. Linde managed to achieve the main safety goal – zero health and security incidents - nonetheless.
- Hurricane Harvey | Recurring heavy rain: Due to the recurring heavy rain, not only caused by Harvey, the whole construction site was flooded several times and special safety and security measures were successfully put in place to secure the site and all involved personnel.
Since every project is unique due to specifications, locations, customers, and unforeseen events, Linde Engineering is proud to look back at over 140 years of experience – and world-class EPC competencies built along the way – for our customers.
